Chitwan, July 30, Number of air passengers has decreased after the completion of Narayangadh-Muglin road expansion. Passengers using air route have started travelling via road after completion of the road expansion drive along the road section.
According to the Bharatpur office of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, the number of air passengers has decreased in last fiscal year as compared to previous fiscal year.
A total of 270,626 air passengers through Bharatpur airport travelled in fiscal year 2017/18 BS while the number of air passengers was decreased by 82,788 people. A total of 187,838 passengers travelled through Bharatpur airport.
Office Chief Pawan Kumar Gautam said that although the number of air passengers has decreased, number of foreign tourists has increased. Ten thousands and 385 foreigners had used air route through Bharatpur airport in previous fiscal year, 21,320 foreign visitors used air route in last fiscal year.
Gautam further said that around 24 flights were made at Bharatpur airport daily in fiscal year 2017/18 while it decreased to eight flights in fiscal year 2018/19. Buddha Airlines and Yeti Airlines have been making Bharatpur-Kathmandu flights.
