Most police offices without own building

Surkhet, July 24,  Most police offices of Karnali State are operating their security services in absence of own building. With this, the police offices are being compelled to station at highly expensive rented houses.

As many as 86 among 189 offices of Nepal Police based in 10 districts of Karnali State have been placed at rented houses, shared Purna Chandra Joshi, Nepal Police Karnali State Chief and Deputy Inspector General of Police.

According to him, 13 police Offices in Jajarkot followed by 12 in Rukum-West, 10 in Dailekh, nine each in Kalikot and Humla, eight each in Surkhet and Salyan, six each in Dolpa and Mugu and four in Jumla do not have their own buildings.

Annually over Rs 7.4 million is being expended for rented houses in course of the management of police offices in Karnali State.

Owing to deficit budget, local governments and other agencies are paying house rents for some police offices, he shared. Stationing security offices in rented house will hamper the performance of Nepal Police in maintaining law and order, he claimed.
