Nepali Congress firms on parliamentary system: Dr Koirala

Biratnagar, Aug 23 : Nepali Congress (NC) central committee member Dr Shekhar Koirala has reaffirmed that NC was firm on parliamentary system.

At an interaction programme organized by the Janaadhikar Abhiyan Nepal on the issues of politics and human rights here Friday, Dr Koirala claimed that the economic activities were booming in the country due to the NC-led government’s concept of liberal economy in 1990.

Similarly, Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre) Chairman Gopal Kirati spoke of the need to amend the faults in the constitution. Likewise, NCP leader DC Nepal said that the government should protect the human rights and secure the welfare of the public.

Also speaking in the programme, National Human Rights Commission Member Govinda Poudel argued that democracy could be respected only with protection of human rights.
