Three cloth banks in Jhapa

Bhadrapur, Aug 23 : Three ‘cloth banks’ have been set up in Jhapa district with an objective of providing clothes free of cost to the families of poor financial background. The banks have made an arrangement where people from poor families can choose and take clothes as per their need.

Such banks have been brought into operation at three places- Birtamod, Damak and Bhadrapur- in the district for the welfare of the poor people. Various organisations including Rotary Club and Lions Club are actively collecting the clothes for the banks.

Different types of clothes for children and adult people are kept in the banks. Mostly women, children and senior citizens from poor families visit bank for the purpose, said Tikaraj Dhakal, Chairman of Rotary Club of Bhadrapur, adding that a space near Durga Temple at Bhadrapur-5 is used for the cloth bank.

Giving impetus to the campaign, a business person Suresh Kumar Bansal has provided a room free of cost for the cloth bank, according to Goma Bhattarai, Chairperson of the Women Entrepreneurs’ Association, Jhapa.
