Bhaktapur, Sept 18 Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) Chairperson Narayan Man Bijukchhe has asserted that the tangible and intangible arts and culture of the Bhaktapur should be handed over to the new generation.
Inaugurating the third Bhaktapur convention of Nepal Revolutionary Masons Association in Bhaktapur on Wednesday, Bijukchhe argued that if the old traditional crafts and techniques of house and heritages construction were not handed over to the new generation, the skills and crafts and technique would die out slowly.
Stating that Bhaktapur had witnessed a surge in the number of domestic and foreign tourists to see the tangible and intangible arts and cultures of the medieval city -Bhaktapur – he spoke of the need for the masons and carpenters to learn new techniques and skills when it comes to construction.
Likewise, NWPP central member and Bhaktapur Municipality Mayor Sunil Prajapati expressed his concern over the likelihood of Nepali masons, carpenters and artisans to be displaced by the Indian workers as he viewed that there was a growing case of the Indian workers and investors being involved in the construction works in Nepal lately.
