Main opposition party calls for reinstatement of sacked journalists

Kathmandu, Aug 26,  The Chief Whip of the main opposition party in the House of Representatives, Bal Krishna Khand, has demanded the government reinstated the journalists working for Radio Nepal in Doti and Dipayal.

Speaking during the ‘zero hour’ in the meeting of the House of Representatives today, Chief Whip Khand called for reinstating working journalists Prakash Bom, Sunita Rawal and Chakra Kunwar who have been working for Radio Nepal for nearly more than a decade. Radio Nepal’s board of directors had sacked the three journalists.

Lawmakers Tejulal Chaudhary, Damodar Bhandary, Dil Kumari, Durga Kumari Bishwakarma, Dev Prasad Timilsina and Narayan Prasad Marasini drew the government’s attention to provide relief to the affected people and to tame the rivers as the swollen rivers following continuous rain flooded thousands of ropanis of land and triggered landslide in the hills and mountains.

Lawmaker Dev Prasad Gurung demanded scrapping the Nepal Army’s Ranger Battalion, Devendra Poudel called for upgrading the national highways and Nabina Lama urged the government to address the demands placed by Tribhuvan University’s microbiology students.

Lawmaker Nawaraj Raut demanded that the government take initiative to have the Shikhar Shaili temple in Surkhet, the capital of Karnali Province, enlisted in the list of World Heritage Sites.

Lawmaker Nawaraj Silwal called on the government to carry out monitoring of the private hospitals while lawmaker Narayan Prasad Khatiwada called on the government to mount a search for Chini Maya Tamang of Nuwakot district who has gone missing. Lawmaker Pramila rai urged the government to take effective measures to contain the spread of dengue in various districts.
