Ghorahi, Aug 12, Freed Kamalaris (the previous bonded labourers) have constructed their own building at the cost of around Rs 10 million. Sunita Chaudhary, chair of Freed Kamalari Development Forum, informed they have constructed a three-storied building by mobilizing financial resources around Rs 9.73 million.
“We received Rs 8 million from Nepal Government Terai-Madhes Prosperity Programme, investment of Rs 88,000 from Freed Kamlari Development Forum and Rs 838,000 from internal fund of the Forum for constructing the building”, she shared.
The building constructed at Ghorahi sub-metropolitan city-17, Chaughera was inaugurated on Sunday. Former Kamlari and whip of the Nepal Communist Party parliamentary party whip Shanta Chaudhary inaugurated the building amidst a programme. She stressed the need to educate Kamalaris for transforming their lives in a true sense.
On the occasion, Naru Lal Chauhdary, mayor of the Ghorahi sub-metropolis, suggested the Forum to utilize the newly-constructed building linking with the future of Kamlaris.
