Bhadrapur, March 25 Nepali Congress (NC) former general secretary Prakashman Singh has said the perspective in regard with federalism, republic and secularism endorsed by the party’s general convention is the official view or line of the party.
Speaking this morning at a press meet organised by the Nepal Press Union (NPU) at Birtamod of Jhapa, the NC leader said statements from party’s leaders in opposition of the line of general convention were their personal views.
“As the NC believes in democracy and is a democratic party, its leaders deserve the right to freedom of opinion or differing views. So there is no need to be confused about the party’s official views regarding these issues.”
In a response to journalists’ query, he said the incumbent government had even not an ability to bring the dissenting party Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ to talks.
Recalling the role and contribution of former Prime Minister and party president the late Girija Prasad Koirala in bringing the then rebelling force Maoist to the mainstream of politics, he demanded the government to convince the Biplav faction to the talks to find a solution to the problem.
