July 24 ,A session of the House of Representatives scheduled for 1:00 am today has been put off until 2:30 pm by putting up a notice. Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara has revised the schedule for the session, it is stated in the notice signed by Federal Parliament’s secretary general Manohar Prasad Bhattarai.
The meeting had to be adjourned due to a special reason. Earlier, 310th meeting of the HOR was also postponed through a notice due to differing views between the ruling and opposition parties on the House operation after the main opposition registered a proposal of public importance in the parliament, seeking discussions on the issues of floods, landslides and inundation in several parts of the country.
It was said the meeting was adjourned as the lawmakers had to be mobilised for the humanitarian assistance efforts in the affected areas. The announcement of postponement of the session was followed by the Speaker’s call to lawmakers to visit the affected areas and lend helping hands.
The NC was not happy with the decision to adjourn the session, as it termed it not a ‘right decision’ when the entire parliament had to move ahead unitedly.
