The 2nd Nepal media peace forum, “Voice of Press”, will be held in Kathmandu, Nepal on 8th of June. The forum will focus on promoting peace movement in Nepal and raising awareness of media responsibility for the establishment of international law for peace based on the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).
The DPCW consisting of 10 articles and 38 clauses was drafted by international law experts to propose it as an international agreement to fundamentally prevent armed conflicts and establish sustainable peace through international cooperation and civil participation.
Veronica Im, General Director of HWPL, the host organization of the forum said “The participants of the 1st Nepal media forum agreed with the needs of the regular press forum for peace journalism in Nepal. This forum is open to any journalists and media workers in Nepal who want to get engaged in peace journalism. As a messenger and voice of the Nepalis, Nepal journalists have a significant role and responsibilities in contributing peace and enhancing human rights in Nepal.”
The 1st Nepal media peace forum was held with participants of about 20 journalists in Kathmandu in January this year.
V.O.P(Voice of Press) is a cross-border media network for freedom of the press and peace journalism in which journalists from all around the world participate in. Since its start in November 2016, the forum has been held for 31 times, and 176 journalists from 22 countries have attended the forum.
