Kathmandu, Dec 18: The first International Photography Competition on Nepal has kicked off at Chengdu of China with a view to promoting tourism in Nepal.
The six-day photo exhibition on Nepal is being held at Wide Narrow Ale – a tourism hub of Chengdu city of China – to mark the first anniversary of the establishment of sisterly relations between Kathmandu Metropolis and Chengdu city.
At least 600,000 Chinese and foreign tourists are expected to visit the photo exhibition at the Wide Narrow Ale where more than 100,000 tourists come to visit daily.
Photos related to different religious, cultural, tourism, art and culture of Nepal have been put on display in the event.
Inaugurating the competition, Nepali Ambassador to China Leelamani Poudyal expressed his confidence that the photo exhibition would serve as a milestone for tourism promotion.
He expressed gratefulness to the Chengdu City, Sichuan Province and the Chinese government for the gesture of cooperation in the promotion of Nepal’s tourism.
Nepal Tourism Board’s media expert Sharad Pradhan hoped that the event would be substantial in attracting more tourists to Nepal.
