Parasi, Nov 15: The 4th round of geophysics survey has completed in the Ramgram stupa area which is believed to have bodily remains of Gautam Buddha. Nepal government’s Department of Archeology, Lumbini Development Trust and an expert team from the United Kingdom’s Durham University made an intensive study on the stupa area which is under the process of classification of world heritage.
The study was carried out in the Nawalparasi-west with the involvement of geophysics experts from the United Kingdom. The Oriental Cultural Heritage Site Protection Alliance had provided funding through UNESCO to carry out the study from 7-13 November. The team has returned after undertaking study on the underground structures of the stupa area.
However, the comprehensive report of the study would be made public iin coming January, informed Bishnu Pathak from the Department of Archaeology. He further shared, “A team of three experts with two foreigners carried out three types of studies within 500-metre area surrounding the stupa.
The expert team is now compiling the data of the study done through the geophysics, field walking and agar core technology”. However, the preliminary report of the study would be presented on coming Wednesday, Pathak informed. The team has collected important evidences from the survey-covered area, he said.
