Bhadrapur, Nov 14: Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel has suggested that Prime Minister himself should hold talks with India for resolving the problem seen over the border dispute. Addressing a press meet organized by Nepal Press Union Jhapa branch here today, he said since the border dispute is not going to be finalized from the Secretary-level meeting, the Prime Minister himself should hold dialogue with the Indian Prime Minister.
He said the opposition party Nepali Congress was also ready to cooperate to such an initiative if the government moved ahead to resolve the border dispute, adding that the border issue should not be internationalized in hurry without gathering the required evidences. “A question has been raised on the security of Nepal’s border due to the dominating attitude of a neighbour and Nepal’s own negligence.
There is a strong government with two-thirds majority and there is no worry that other parties will topple it down. The government should present itself from a strong position regarding resolving the border issues related to Lipulek, Limpiyadhura, Kalapani among other areas where border dispute has been seen by collecting whatever evidences that these territories belong to Nepal,” he stressed.
Senior leader Poudel along with other leaders Dr Shekhar Koirala, Arjun Narsingh KC, Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, Dr Minendra Rijal, Dhanaraj Gurung, Sarita Prasai and Badri Pandey ha\ve arrived in Jhapa to attend the party cadres assembly to be held at the party’s district office today.
