Kathmandu, July 26, Former president of Garment Association Nepal, Brij Gopal Inani, has urged the government to return his property to him by removing the Mahalaxmi Garment Industries under his ownership from the black list.
Inani, who is also the former president of Asian Textile and Garments Council, made this plea while submitting a memorandum to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Thursday.
In the memorandum, Inani stated that Rastriya Banijya Bank has captured the entire property of his industry since 2058 BS (for 18 years) thereby causing much inconvenience to him.
He has demanded that the government should form an investigation committee look into the matter and his property should be refunded along with compensation by taking action against the guilty party.
Stating that his industry, established in 2000, had made significant contribution to the export trade of the country by exporting large quantity of readymade garments to America and Canada, Inani said the RBB refused to accept the payment of loan, which according to him, the RBB made him liable, although he was willing to pay it back to the bank.
He has accused the RBB of seizing his property and misusing it. He has also expressed confidence that he would get justice from the Prime Minister’s Office.
