Kathmandu, July 25 , Nepal Communist Party (NCP) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said the remaining works of the party unification would be completed within this month and a nation-wide campaign launched from the fourth week of August.
He said this while addressing a programme organized to commemorate the Sixth Memorial Day of founding member of NCP, Nara Bahadur Karmacharya, at the party office at Dhumbarahi today.
The party chair opined that an outstanding initiative has been taken by unifying the two major communist parties in the country, and the remaining works related to the unification from top to bottom were in the final stages of sorting out, overcoming challenges and obstacles.
“True tributes to the late founding leader Karmacharya would be to make a commitment to give a new model of socialism to the country and the world by further consolidating the party unity and making the government’s works more effective,” he said.
Stating that the country was at a special turning point in terms of communist and political movement, he stressed on the need of moving ahead in a wise manner for utilizing the ‘big opportunity’ the Nepali people have given to the NCP.
He recalled that the late leader Karmacharya had dedicated himself throughout his life to the ideals, ideology and objectives of the party, amidst the general tendency of some people affiliating with the party for a certain period of time and then deviating from the party line.
He was an epitome of simplicity and sincerity, and was free from any kind of opportunism, the party chair Prachanda remembered late Karmacharya. NCP senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal reiterated on further strengthening the party unity and moving ahead by correcting any weaknesses.
He said the late leader Karmacharya was always for a united communist party in Nepal. Party general secretary Bishnu Poudel and spokesman Narayan Kaji Shrestha among the leaders and cadres were present in the programme. Karmacharya became affiliated to the Prajatantra Sangh from 2005 BS and dedicated himself to the labour movement and the movement to overthrow the Rana oligarchy since then.
He was one among the four founding leaders of the NCP on Baisakh 10, 2006 BS. The other founding leaders were Pushpa Lal Shrestha, Narayan Bilas Joshi, Niranjan Gobinda Baidya and Motidevi Shrestha. –
