Kathmandu, Jan 25: The Nepali Congress has said it has serious concern over the endorsement of National Medical Education Bill by the House of Representatives. The HoR meeting on Friday passed the bill amidst the protest of the opposition party.
Calling an emergency news conference Friday evening, NC accused the government of having the stand for the state system without opposition.
On the occasion, NC Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma said that non-implementation of the agreement signed with Dr. Govinda KC at the initiative of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli himself has escalated people’s distrust on the government.
The NC said that the government has openly invited the opposition party for conflict after trying to root out the hospitals established in the name of Girija Prasad Koirala and Sushil Koirala. The party would make public a nationwide programme with varying stand on the bill.
Meanwhile, the NC Parliamentary Party accused the Speaker of not performing fairly and responsibly to maintain parliamentary discipline.
The emergency meeting of the NC Parliamentary Party held after the endorsement of the Medical Education Bill from HoR drew the conclusion that the Speaker had the biased role in this regard.
The emergency meeting held under the chairmanship of President Sher Bahadur Deuba decided to make the struggle stronger in order to maintain constitution’s norms and values, norms of democracy and respect of parliament, said NC’s Chief Whip, Bal Krishna Khand.
The meeting also decided to remain active inside and out of the parliament in order to make the government correct the Bill and demanded the government to save the life of agitating Prof Dr. KC.
