Kathmandu, Dec 18: Lalitpur Patriots won the inaugural match of the Everest Premier League T20 that began here today.
In the match held at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Lalitpur Patriots defeated Kathmandu Kings XI by 7 wickets. Opting to field after winning the toss, Lalitpur restricted Kathmandu to 89 runs, bowling them out in 18.3 overs. Amit Shrestha top-scored for Kathmandu with 27 runs.
Subodh Bhati took four wickets while Lalit Narayan Rajbansi took three and Mehboob Alam took two and Yogesh Sagar one wicket for Lalitpur.
In reply, Lalitpur reached the victory target of 90 runs in 16.3 overs at the loss of three wickets. Indian recruit Jaya Kishan Kolsawala scored 44 runs (not out) while captain Gyanendra Malla (20) and Rajbir Singh (14) were the other notable contributors for Lalitpur. Lalit Narayan was declared the man-of-the-match.
The first match tomorrow will be played between Chitwan Tigers and Pokhara Rhinos while Biratnagar Warriors will face Lalitpur Patriots in the second match. The winner of the tournament will walk home with Rs. 2.1 million.
