Rupandehi, Nov 17: Rupandehi-based industrialists have urged the media to prioritise news that would help promote industries and trade. The media should raise problems facing industrialists and traders and cover news about new technology and progress in the area of industry, they suggested at a discussion between editors of various media outlets and industrialists coordinated by the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Rupandehi on the eve of the news festival in Rupandehi district.
On the occasion, Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment of State 5, Lila Giri urged the media to focus on good work carried out by the government. State Assembly member Fakaruddhin Khan demanded that the government as a guardian addresses problems facing the people from all walks of life. Former FNJ President Bishnu Nishturi viewed that journalists were not able to do their job impartially due to their division politically.
Similarly, former FNJ President Shiva Gaule stressed the need for holding discussions among journalists and industrialists to sort out their differences. State president of the Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries Netra Pathak suggested that the media should take up issues relating to industries as it plays a great role in their development and promotion.
Outgoing President of the Nepal Pharmaceutical Association, Baburam Bhattarai, President of the Rupandehi Industry Association, Yam Lal Lohani and central member of Nepal Chamber of Commerce Tanka Pokharel suggested that the media should prioritise positive contents regarding industry. Chairperson of Rastriya Samachar Samiti Shymal Adhikari, Chief Editor Shyam Rimal, President and office bearers of the FNJ and its former presidents, senior journalists, editors of various news media, district-based journalists and industrialists among others participated in the discussion.
