No pact reached regarding government’s leadership: Acting PM Pokharel

Biratnagar, Oct 25, Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Defence , Ishwar Pokharel has said no agreement has been reached between the two chairmen of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) regarding leading the government turn by turn.

Talking to journalists at Biratnagar Airport this morning, he made it clear that no such agreement was reached between the two chairmen at the time of party unification. The Acting Prime Minister added that the two chairmen have been meeting daily and holding discussions on party matters.

Stating it was normal to hold discussions and debate within the party on various issues as the two parties came from different backgrounds preceding their unification, this issue should not be construed as dispute. Commenting over the media reports about disputes between the party two chairs, he claimed ‘no reality’ in the reports.

He was of the view that both chairs could own up the party’s responsibility as per the need of time. The Defence Minister made it clear that there was no possibility of sitting for talks with the CPN Biplab-led Group being based on the conditions put forth by the Group.

He added that anyone wishing to join the mainstream of politics was always welcome. As he said, the party had yet not discussed about the probable candidate for the Speaker.
