Chitwan, Oct 24, The ninth World Ranger Congress is to be organised in Sauraha from November 12. The Congress is going to be held in Nepal for the first time in Asia. The Congress is being held in every three years since 1995.
The government has formed management committee under coordination of Joint-Secretary at the Ministry of Forests and Environment, Dr Maheshwor Dhakal, to hold the ninth congress. Committee member and Assistant Conservation Officer at the Department of Wildlife Conservation, Bishnu Thapaliya, said that some 500 experts, working in forest, wildlife and environment sectors, from more than 70 countries and 100 from Nepal would participate in the congress.
Thapaliya said that experiences regarding achievements made in forest, wildlife and environment sectors, as well as challenges would be exchanged in the five-day congress. A programme has been scheduled where achievements made by Nepal in wildlife conservation including community’s partnership in zero-poaching would be presented in the congress. The congress would elect a new leadership for next three years.
