Kathmandu, Oct 22, Various Taiwanese organisations have provided 2,000 high quality wheelchairs to Nepal for use by people with physical disability. It is said 200 of these wheelchairs have already been brought to Kathmandu and of them 180 wheelchairs were distributed free of cost to the beneficiaries in various districts.
Each such wheelchair costs about Rs 5,600. The wheelchairs were distributed to seven people with disabilities in a representative way amidst a programme organized by the Cao Zhongzhi Foundation Taipei. The Foundation has been presently providing its services in Nepal through 30 physicians and 90 volunteers.
Founder chair of the Foundation, Cao Zhongzhi said that his organisation has been distributing wheelchairs and providing health services to the disabled people in various countries. He added that this assistance in the form of wheelchairs will contribute to alleviating the sufferings of the people with disability in Nepal to some extent.
Stating that Nepal and Taiwan have friendly relations, Cao said this bond of friendship has been further expanded to the people’s level. Taipei Rotary Club 3523 District Governor, Joy expressed that the close relations have developed between Nepal and Taiwan with the exchange of cooperation between them.
District Governor of Rotary Club of Nepal, Kiran Lla Shrestha said the wheelchair donation by Taiwan to Nepal is significant and thousands of people would be benefited from this.
