Pampha elected ADWAN chairperson

Chitwan, Sept 29,  Pampha Pariyar Gurung has been elected the chairperson of Association for Dalit Women’s Advancement of Nepal (ADWAN). The Association’s 20th General Assembly held here on Saturday elected a new executive committee.

Pampha Nepali is elected the vice-chairperson, Bindu Pariyar Thapa the general secretary, Tirtha Kumari BK the secretary and Sapana Sunar the treasurer of the executive committee. Similarly, the elected members include Ram Maya BK, Maya Lamsal and Sapana Pariyar.

The newly-elected chairperson Gurung said that ADWAN not only taught entreprenurship skills to the disadvantaged women but it also provides financial assistance to them to start their own small businesses. General secretary Thapa expressed commitment that ADWAN will work for the uplift of the Dalit women and how to increase the access of the students from the indigent communities to school in the coming days.

ADWAN is a human rights organization supporting poor, Dalit & Marginalized women, girls and children. Through mixed-caste self-help saving groups, education, skills development, soft-skills, small entrepreneurship, microfinance, ADWAN gives poor women, girls and children the tools to end inequality, oppression and poverty.

ADWAN’s beneficiaries are low-caste, marginalized poor Nepali women, Girls and children. Most live in isolated rural areas imprisoned by ignorance, gender bias and the caste system, and marginalized in their families and communities.
