Kaski, Sept 15, Minister for Youth and Sports, Jagat Bahadur Bishwokarma, has said the district sports committees would get new officials soon. At a press meet organized by the Sports Journalists’ Forum Gandaki chapter here today, Minister Bishwokarma further said once the Sports Act was enforced, the vacant posts at the regional sports development committee and district sports committees would get the new office bearers.
He informed that the Sports Act was under discussion in the Education and Health Committee of the House of Representatives. As per the new provision to be included in the Act, the State governments would be able to form the State level mechanisms for the development of sports. According to him, the upcoming 13th South Asian Games being held coming November was linked to country’s prestige.
So, the government was striving to make the event successful. The construction of physical infrastructures for it was going on satisfactorily in Pokhara, the Minister added. The recent meeting of the Council of Ministers has passed the work procedure on SAG management and operation. The forthcoming meeting of the SAG organizing committee would form all committees, the Minister shared.
