Galeshwar, Sept 11, Vehicular movement along the Beni-Jomsom road has come to a standstill as it has not been repaired. Traffic along the road was halted since Sunday after a section of the road has been swept away by landslide at Ghoptebhir that borders Myagdi and Mustang districts.
Moreover erosion by the Kaligandaki river has swept away the foundation of the road on a stretch of 10 metres at the same place, disrupting the road traffic. Preparations have been made to open a new track on the steep cliff at the place.
Supervisor of the Beni-Jomsom-Korala Road Project, Indraman Sherchan said that they are thinking of opening the track of the road at that location using explosives as the track could not be constructed on the cliff only with the help of dozer.
According to him, works are underway to repair the collapsed road. Passengers have to get off the vehicle and take new vehicle to their destination. Tourists who are on their way to Mustang and those already in Mustang, pilgrims as well as the general public are facing inconvenience due to the road closure.
