Germany, Sept 1. During the 21st Conference of NGOs held in Germany, Germany-based NGOs have expressed interest to assist Nepal for the promotion of technical and vocational education which has been realized vital to make headway to economic progress.
The conference organised by German Nepal Friendship Association discussed the possibilities to bring in foreign investment, technology and knowledge in Nepal, citing that the promotion of technical and vocational education was necessary for the prosperity of Nepal.
On the occasion, German Ambassador to Nepal, Roland Schafer, recalled that Germany had embraced the technical and vocational education as a tool to achieve economic development and Nepal could adopt this as a strategy to capture the development, pledging support on behalf of the German government to Nepal towards that end. Stating that Nepal was advancing towards the path of economic prosperity, the Ambassador spoke of the need of further promoting technical and vocational education to prepare skilled resources required for tourism, agriculture and employment sectors.
Also Nepal’s Consular General for Germany, Association President Ram Pratap Thapa, said that the conference was organised with an objective to inform different organisations of Germany as they were willing to work in the technical education of Nepal and to increase support in the days ahead.
Saying the non-resident Nepalis residing in more than 80 countries of the world are motivated towards the development of their motherland, former President of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), Jiba Lamichhane, said that the non-resident Nepalis are active for Nepal’s development by collaborating with the NGOs.
On the occasion, Executive Editor of National News Agency (RSS) from Nepal, Krishna Adhikari, and a journalist Poshnath Adhikari had presented working papers on ‘Challenges and opportunities of technical education in Nepal’.
A total of 60 people including Nepalis associated with different organisations in Germany and representatives of different NGOs of Germany had participated in the conference.
Meanwhile, a book named Khoriya Kheti Abhyas Ra Prabhav penned by Krishna Adhikari was also released on the occasion. The book is about the subsistence farming done by Chepang tribe in Makwanpur district of Nepal.
