Kathmandu, Aug 24: A team of the National Human Rights Commission has left for South Africa to study the situation of human rights in the country. NHRC members Prakash Wosti and Sudip Pathak, Secretary Bed Bhattarai and two other staffers left here on Friday.
The team will be studying the situation of human rights in South Africa while also exchanging experiences with human rights institutions in the country, according to NHRC Director Murari Prasad Kharel. The team will also acquire information from the human rights commission about its activities, the process of complaints, state of recommendations etc.
It will also look into the history of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, its functions and the enforcement of its recommendations, added Kharel.
