Kathmandu, Aug 22 : Spokesperson of the government and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gokul Banskota, has said the meeting of the Council of Ministers could be held even during the foreign visit of the Prime Minister with the utmost use of modern technology. When the PM is physically absent, video conference would be used to connect the PM with the Cabinet meeting here, Spokesperson Banskota informed as the decision of the recent Cabinet meeting.
At a news conference held to share the decisions of recent three Cabinet meetings, Minister Banskota said on Thursday that such arrangement to this could be made after amending the Nepal Government (Work Execution) Regulation 2064.
According to him, PM KP Sharma Oli was leaving for Singapore for the regular health check up. New medicine was used for his treatment and the visit was follow up on its effect. Further health check up could be needed as per the effect of the new medicine.
He belittled the news on social networking sites and reiterated that PM Oli had undergone kidney transplantation 12 years back.
In response to query of media persons, Minister Banskota said that the monarchy was abolished for ever adding that it could not be restored. Monarchy is the issue of history and future generation would only study about it in the textbooks, he said, adding arguing that the followers of the monarchy would be disappeared like dinosaurs.
He urged all to join hands to institutionalize the republic system in the country.
YouTube making issues sensational
Speaking about the social networking sites, he pointed out the need of managing YouTube channels because these were found making any issue unnecessarily sensational. According to him, time has come to categorize social sites and media. He blamed that the media sector itself was misinterpreting the Media Council Bill and Information Technology Bill although these were forwarded to make Nepali media systematic and decent.
The Cabinet meeting, as he said, decided to appoint Joint Secretary Harisharan Pudasaini as the consul general at Guangzhou.
The meeting has permitted to make the sketch of the proposed section of the Tarai-Kathmandu Express Way. The meeting has further decided to add members to the Visit Nepal 2020 main organizing committee.
The added members are Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, and Chief of Nepal Army, among others. Likewise, the meeting approved the Foreign Employment (5th amendment) Regulation 2076 and National Climate Change Policy 2076.
Moreover, the government permitted to present the Nepal Rastra Bank (3rd amendment) Bill 2076 to the federal parliament. Minister Banskota shared that the meeting also permitted to present the Bill Designed to Unite and Mange the Public Debt. Similarly, the meeting has agreed to table the Bank and Financial Institutions (1st amendment) Bill 2076 BS in the federal parliament.
The government further decided to accept the proposed grant assistance worth USD 100 million (around Rs 11 billion) pledged by the donor agencies to Nepal. The resignation rendered by the General Manager of the Timber Corporation of Nepal Limited Raju Laudari was approved.
Likewise, Nepal Electricity Authority has been given approval to remove the trees for constructing ‘right of way’ for 400-kv Tauda-Dhalkebar-Duhabi transmission line and for 220-kv Hetauda-Bharatpur-Bardaghat transmission line.
Decision was made to approve vacancy announced for the gazetted officers on contract basis for various projects under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply, 392 gazetted-officers for the railway and road projects under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transportation and 273 for various 54 development projects under the Ministry of Urban Development.
A committee would be formed under the leadership of Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Prem Kumar Rai to recommend candidates for the post of Executive Chief of Disaster Risk Management Authority
Election Commission of Nepal will be appraised of the by-election to be held on November 30 for the post of ward chair of Paudadungar rural municipality-1 in Bhojpur district.
Furthermore, decision was made to approve the Madan Bhandari Highway Plan Office and for compensation packages for those having house in the unregistered land for the construction of Basaha-Bhiman road section in Gaighat.
The Minister informed that the government decided to establish Dhaubadi Iron Mine Ltd in Nawalparasi district. It was approved to present the bill on amendment and integration of the laws relating to prisons.
According to him, the government also transferred secretaries.
