Kathmandu, Aug 3 : The Tanka Prasad –Ramala Devi Pathak Journalism Award-2075 BS was conferred on former President of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Shiva Gaunle.
At the programme organized here today by Tanka-Sarita Foundation, Nepal Communist Party senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal handed the award to Gaunle. The award carrying a a purse of 2,000 US Dollars was given away to Gaunle for his campaign against corruption through journalism.
Likewise, Tanka Prasad-Rama Devi Pathak journalism incentive award-2075 was presented to senior journalist Chandra Bhandari and Devika Ghartimagar. The award carries a purse of 500 US Dollar.
Similarly, Hem-Sarita International Music Award-2075 BS carrying 1000 US Dollar was handed to popular singer JB Tuhure.
On the occasion, noted artist Madan Krishna Shrestha stressed the need to root out corruption from the country. “Anti-graft efforts should not be let up citing difficulty to fight against such phenomenon”, he added.
Shrestha asserted that the politics sector and bureaucracy are the most corrupt sectors of Nepal.
Also speaking on the occasion, feted personality Gaunle said journalists should write news against corruption. “Those who do not work against corruption could not virtually be journalists”, he viewed.
Patron of the Foundation, Hem Pathak said the they have initiated incentivizing people working for eliminating corruption.
