Pashupatinagar, July 28, An entire settlement at Sandakpur rural municipality in Ilam is at risk of displacement due to landslide havoc. The monsoon-triggered landslide has so far forced at least 12 families from their homes.
The families were compelled to leave homes after cracks were developed inside house walls with the water oozing, said Ilam’s Chief District Officer Shrawan Kumar Timalsina.
The families of Purna Bahadur Gurung, Jeet Kumari Gurung, Lakhman Tamang, Maya Gurung, Ramesh Gurung, Surya Bahadur Gurung, Nir Bahadur Gurung, Ram Bahadur Gurung, Dharmadhwaj Gurung, Netra Bahadur Gurung, Yam Bahadur Gurung, and Bed Bahadur Karki of Sandakpur-5 have been displaced from their homes.
The District Administration Office, Ilam and other several organisations provided them assistance materials including cash. They received Rs 5,000 each from the District Administration Office. Similarly, the Red Cross reached among them with utensils, clothes and tarpaulin tents.
