Martadi-Kolti road remains obstructed since two weeks

Bajura, July 24, Vehicular movement on the Martadi-Kolti road that connects the north eastern belt of Bajura district with the district headquarters remains halted for two weeks due to the obstruction of the road by landslides and erosion triggered by incessant rain.

Likewise, other various rural roads in the district are obstructed for the same reason. Traffic on the Martadi-Kolti road has been halted and people have to travel on foot. Floods in the Baulikhola, Anaikhola, Jilli and Rajatoli rivulets that lie along the Martadi-Kolti road have eroded the road at different places making it impossible for vehicles to ply, Prithvi Rawal, vice-president of Jaya Malika Transport Bajura, said.

Similarly, the Martadi-Ghatmuna road is also blocked due to landslide at various places. The District Disaster Rescue Committee Bajura said the risk of landslides has increased with the haphazard construction of rural roads in the name of development. —
