Kathmandu, March 18 : The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has expressed sorrow over demise of FNJ former president and senior journalist Manindra Raj Shrestha.
“Demise of Shrestha has saddened the FNJ. It has lost a guardian and an accomplished personality. We offer our deepest condolence to the bereaved family,” read a statement issued by FNJ General Secretary Ramesh Bista.
Likewise, the Federation of Nepalese Indigenous Journalists (FONIJ) expressed grief over Shrestha’s demise. Shrestha’s passing away has caused a loss to the whole Nepali journalism and the FONIJ, read a statement issued by FONIJ General Secretary Manoj Ghartimagar.
Shrestha died from a heart attack on Saturday. He was 86. Shrestha, who also edited motherland English daily, was the founding member of Rastriya Samachar Samiti. A resident of Tahachal, Kathmandu, Shrestha is survived by a wife, a son and a daughter.
