The children’s world peace painting event completed in Mexico

15 local schools of the North West region of Baja California in Mexico held ‘Children’s World Peace Event’ to encourage children to participate in peace activities. Around 3,500 children drew pictures with the desire for world peace and wrote letters of peace onto the President of Mexico.

This event, the first of its kind in Mexico which engaged with 15 schools, was organized in collaboration with the international youth NGO, International Youth Peace Group (IPYG), and the federal government of Baja California. The program regarding ‘peace and human rights’, suggested active ways that children can participate with a stronger voice in their communities through the education.

Mrs. Martha Hidalgo Corral, the Federal Government Superintendent of education of the 15 schools in the SEBS region, said, “I was able to realize how honorable it was, doing the work of peace. More importantly, when I was preparing this event with teachers from each school, I was able to realize how important it was for the children, the next generation of Mexico, to think about peace once more.” and emphasized the importance of this event to the participants.

Supported by Martha Hidalgo Corral, the state government education inspector, about 3,500 peace letter written by the students of the 15 schools of the SEBS region, will be delivered to the President of Mexico, who is newly elected, to call for the settlement of the education for peace and human right.

Through the interview, Mrs. Martha Hidalgo Corral mentioned about the further plan in cooperation with the IPYG for local schools and students in the SEBS region to spread the awareness of peace and environment of peace. IPYG, an affiliated organization of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) under UN ECOSOC, has initiated various peace projects such as peace walk and peace letter around the world to develop peace through education and culture.

After the event, the principals of the participating schools gathered to discuss the results of the event and to search for a solution how to collaborate with 23 regional education inspectors to promote the peace letter project in the SEBS region.
