Surkhet, Sept 27, The District Police Office (DPO), Surkhet Chief Superintendent of Police Dilliraj Pant has pledged to make a safe and crime-free society. In his response to increasing public complaints that illegal activities are on the rise in Birendranagar, he highlighted the need of cooperation from media, bureaucracy, political parties and civil society to build a safe society.
He said this while talking to RSS today. As he said, the DPO is busy with preparing a special security plan for the district in view of upcoming festivals. Additional security squads will be mobilised in every settlements during the Dashain and Tihar festivals, according to him.
“Every police unit in the district have been directed to remain watchful towards the possibility of untoward incidents due to alcohol consumption during festivals.” He further added that a different strategy had been adopted to control unlawful activities.
Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Surkhet chair Ganesh Kanjan Bharati stressed that police should be concentrated on combating gambling and potential road accidents due to narrow roadways during festival times.
