New York, Sept 26, ‘UN and international organizations necessary for peace building and conflict resolution’ -Special Representative Sarachchandra Bhandary New York, Sept 26 (RSS): Minster for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali has stressed the necessity of the United Nations along with international, regional and sub-regional organizations for global peace building and conflict resolution.

In a ministerial level dinner on ‘A High-Level Dialogue on Peace Operations: Enhancing Partnership between the UN and International, Regional and Sub-regional Organizations’, Minster Gyawali termed the meeting very contextual with multilateralism facing series of attacks from multiple fronts.

Noting that the magnitude of conflict has widened in the contemporary world over the time, he said it has aggravated the challenge. Lone efforts from an institution therefore would not be adequate to overcome the challenge”. In order to address these challenges, the drafters of the UN Charter had envisioned the partnership and collaboration among the international, regional and sub-regional organizations, he added.

He also noted that the UN was given more than needed importance for resolving conflict while asserting, “Regional and sub-regional organizations can play crucial role in resolving and preventing conflicts”. He however stressed the need to strengthen capacity of the international and regional organizations in the areas of post-conflict diplomacy, mediation, reconstruction and post-conflict development.

Saudi Arabia and Bahrain eager to support Nepal Gulf countries, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain have pledged their readiness to support Nepal’s efforts for social and economic advancements. The commitments from both the countries were made in separate meetings held with Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali on Wednesday.

The high-placed officials of Saudi and Bahrain had pledged to support Nepal to its efforts to the path to prosperity. Ibrahim Abdulaziz Al-Assaf Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia and Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa Foreign Minister of Baharin called on Minister Gyawali. Matters related to bilateral interests and mutual benefits were discussed on the occasion.
