Kathmandu, Aug 20 : Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration, Lal Babu Pandit, has pledged that the government would never let down the morale of civil servants.
Responding to the queries raised by parliamentarians at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Minister Pandit said the adjustment of civil servants was successfully carried out in all three levels and necessary measures as salary and facilities were arranged to keep their morale high.
In view of enhancing the professional life of the civil servants, Pandit shared, arrangement for fellowship and training abroad were also put in place. Stating that the laws regarding federal civil service were in the offing, the Minister clarified that the vacancy announced by the Public Service Commission was inclusive and in line with the laws. He asserted that there was no reason to scrap that vacancy.
Parliamentarian Mahendra Ray Yadav asked the Minister about the measures taken by the incumbent government and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration to boost the morale of the civil servants.
Minister Pandit said that there was need of the trade union at policy-level and discussion about the modality of a trade union was underway.
Similarly, lawmaker Bijaya Subba asked the Minister whether the government was aware of the irregularities and impunity in the construction works in the local units. To which Minister Pandit replied that the local and provincial government could do monitoring and evaluate such works.
Stating that the federal government had made laws and criteria to curb the irregularity in construction works, Minister Pandit said that the government had adopted the policy of ‘zero-tolerance’ towards corruption.
According to him, other agencies were also active in tackling corruption. He also warned that those local representatives who work as contractors would be punished. Even the erring consumer group would be under the scrutiny of the anti-graft body, the Minister stated.
