Property worth Rs 3.59 billion damaged in State-2

Kathmandu, Aug 4: Property worth around Rs 3.59 billion was damaged by landslide and inundation following excessive rainfall in July in State 2, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.

Minister for Agriculture and Livestock, Chakrapani Khanal presented the details in today’s meeting of Agriculture, Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee.

Minister Khanal said that said that Rs 1.97 billion was damaged towards agro sector and Rs 1.62 billion towards livestock in eight districts of state 2.

The Ministry presented the details of loss caused by landslide and inundation after the parliamentary committee asked the Ministry to present the details about the fact details of loss caused towards agro and livestock sectors of the country due to incessant rainfall.

According to the details, State 1 suffered huge quantity of loss after state 2. Property worth Rs 815.4 million towards livestock and agro sector was damaged in the districts of State 1.

The details collected by the Ministry till July 29 stated that 2,446 households were affected in State 1.

Minister Khanal further said that details of loss caused by rainfall in State 3, Gandaki State, State 5, Karnali State and Sudur Paschim State have not been received yet.
