Galeswar, March 17 : The girl students appearing this year’s Secondary Education Examinations or SEE in Myagdi will receive sanitary pads as well, while they get the question papers for the examinations. The SEE begins from coming March 24.
The Social Development Ministry of Gandaki province is to distribute sanitary pads to the girl students. The noble initiative is being carried out considering the data of girls students remaining absent in school or dropping out from school due to menstruation, according to Chief Women’s Development Officer at the Ministry Tulasa Aryal. A budget of Rs. 15,000 has been set aside for the same.
The support is being sent to all the districts in the province in order to help the girl students attending the SEE manage the menstruation period easily. “The distribution of sanitary pads is also aimed at ensuring that menstruation does not affect the girl students’ participation in the SEE,” Aryal said.
Of the 2,242 students attending the SEE in Myagdi, 1,111 are girls.
