Bajura, Aug 30. The entire village of Badimalika municipality-8 in the district is at risk of being washed away by local Bauli and Khargadh rivers. The rivers have eroded a large portion of river banks advancing towards the village, thus putting 50 families of the village at risk, said ward member Nar Bahadur Ayadi. Concerned authorities are least concerned about the perennial problem facing the locals despite repeated calls, complained the locals. “We have reached the municipality and other concerned authorities for help, but to no avail so far,” said local resident Dhan Bahadur Rawal.
There is no alternative to shifting the villagers to a safe place as a result of flooding, said Ayadi.
The river erosion has also destroyed some portion of agricultural lands of the local people. When asked, the municipality mayor Padam Baduwal said initiations have started with the federal and state government to resolve the problem.
