Commemorative Event for Peacebuilding in Collaboration with Local Community and INGO in Philippines

On January 24, the 3rd Annual Commemoration of January 24 HWPL Day will be held in Buluan, Maguindanao the Philippines. Every January 24 is designated as the HWPL Day when the Mindanao Peace Agreement in 2014 established by the local community with Gov. Esmael G. Mangudadatu, Governor of Province of Maguindanao, and Fernando Capalla, Archbishop of Davao diocese, in attendance, which advocated active engagement of peacebuilding from the local level in Mindanao.

Various peace activities in Maguindanao and Davao City have been endorsed such as building peace monuments in Buluan as well as in a MILF Camp, carrying out ‘Peace Book Reading Project’ in the Davao City Library, and holding peace walk campaigns and peace seminars to implement the peace agreement at the community level by ensuring public awareness of citizen and participation in the settlement of peace in the region.

On the need for consistent efforts of peacebuilding, Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL, who proposed the peace agreement with HWPL as a third-party facilitator of conflict resolution, will deliver a speech advocating peace in the Philippines.

International Cooperation on Peace Education is promoted in the Philippines

The Commission on Higher Education(CHED) of the Philippine government will set an official agreement with HWPL for peace education. This event will be followed by a press conference with Philippine journalists and a peace lecture for the youths from Polytechnic University of the Philippines(PUP). HWPL is also planning to hold a peace campaign to promote the participation of women and youth in peace activities as well as an interreligious dialogue among religious leaders for the harmony of religions.

HWPL, an international peace organization under the UN ECOSOC, is carrying out peace activities around the world by establishing ‘Cooperative Peace Governance’ with the aim of establishing an international law for peace, fostering religious harmony through interreligious dialogue, and spreading a culture of peace.
